Contact messages are kept for 12 months
The contact form is the only place this site asks for personal data, and this page sets out what it keeps, why, for how long and how to get it back or have it deleted.
Four fields you fill in and two the site adds
- Name
- So that a reply can address you properly.
- Email address
- So that the organisers can reply, and so that a request to see or delete your messages can find them.
- Subject
- So that a speaking offer, a sponsorship and a venue can be told apart at a glance.
- Message
- The enquiry itself, between 10 and 4,000 characters long.
- Language
- The language the page was in when you wrote, so that a reply can come in the same one.
- Time received
- When the message arrived, which also sets the date it is deleted.
Deleted 12 months after it arrives
Every message is stored with its own deletion date, 12 months after it arrived. A clean-up run every month removes each message once that date has passed, and a request to see or delete your messages is kept for 12 months after it arrives, or until it has been answered if that takes longer.
Read only by the organisers, never sold or shared
Messages are kept in a Cloudflare D1 database in North America, which only the chapter's organisers and the people who maintain this site can read. They are not sold or passed to sponsors, and nobody is added to a mailing list. The chapter, organised by Rich Chungong of Dash In Between, is responsible for them.
No analytics, no tracking cookies and no stored IP addresses
The site runs no analytics and sets no advertising or tracking cookies. Your browser keeps two preferences of its own: the language you choose, in a cookie, and the light or dark theme, in local storage. To slow down spam, the server counts messages per connection in memory for a short time, and the site never stores the address. Links to Luma, X and LinkedIn lead to those sites, whose own privacy policies apply there.
Ask for a copy of your messages, or for their deletion
Enter the address you wrote from and choose what you want, and an organiser will reply to that address to confirm it is yours before acting, so nobody can read or erase another person's messages.
